Suhua Group was founded in December of 1990, and was invested by two national second-grade enterprises - Suzhou Chemical Factory and Suzhou Solvent Factory established in 1956.
In December of 1990, as the first large-scale enterprise group mainly producing group, Suzhou Chemical Pesticide Group Company was founded. It is one important turning point and milestone in the develpment history of Suhua Group. Then, our group stepped on to a higher stage for rapid and sound development. At that time, the leaders of Chemical Ministry, Jiangsu Province Government and Suzhou City Government paid much attention on our group. The minister of Chemical Ministry (now he is the vice-chairman of NPC) himself wrote congratulations to us: "Establish Enterprise Group to Exert Scale Superiority", which we take as drive for our behavior and actions. During these more than 10 years’ development, we have insisted in development and reformation to make our enterprise economy develop rapidly, and our economic benefit has been listed on the top among industrial enterprises in Suzhou City. We have made great contributions to the development of local economy in Suzhou City and pesticide industry of China. The 15 years since the development of our enterprise is just the period of China’s fastest reformation and development of market economy. During these 15 years, Suhua People keeps development and innovation. We have overcome one and one difficulty with reformatory spirit. The following are the three key stages:
Stage One: in the first five year of the 1990s, we focus on developing export-oriented economy, executing export oriented strategy, and promoting fast development of export-oriented economy.
In 1992, our group obtained self-support import and export rights from Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation. We established long trade and economic cooperation relations with many world-famous large groups and companies. Our products are sold in Southeast Asia, Europe, America, Africa and so on, and are enjoying high popularity and large market share in international market. Our group enjoys high reputation in the international market. The market share of our product - diphenyl oxide is over 30% in Japan, and that of spermine is over 70% in Japan. Our group is the main supplier of Bayer, GA, and the appointed long-term supplier of an American multinational company. Our ester aldehyde products have entered France market. And the export volume of our OBSH, CMC, chloroacetic acid, alkyl diphenyl ether, acephate, glyphosate, phosphorous acid, cis-3-(2-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoro-1-propenyl)-2,2-dimethylcyclopropane carboxylic acid and so on is increasing year by year. In 2004, our total export amount got to RMB 780 million, and self-support export amount got to USD 54.35 million. The ratio of export-oriented economy in our group got to 30%.
Additionally, we has established three joint ventures and three cooperation projects with those which listed in 500 top enterprises in the world.
1. In 1992, we established Suzhou Huasu Plastics Group Co., Ltd. with America Westlake Group, Norsk Hydro a.s Company and international Financial Corp. The company is located in Liujiagang, Taicang, mainly engaged in PVC film processing and PVC resin production.
2. In 1994, we established Suzhou Fumeishi Plant Preservative Agent Co., Ltd. with FMC (USA), and equipped many devices producing preparations and mixing pesticides.
3. In 1994, we established Solutia Therminol Co., Ltd. Suzhou with America Solutia Company. As the sole manufacturer of diphenyl in our country, we introduced advanced production technology and management experience from America Solutia Company, and established the largest heat conducting oil producing device in our country, mainly producing high-grade oil conducting oil. We totally introduced foreign capital of USD 100 million for the these joint-venture projects.
Three cooperation projects:
1. We set up a long-term cooperation project with Itochu (Japan) and Kao to process and produce high-grade surfactant- alkyl diphenyl ether.
2. We set up a cooperation project on phosphorous acid, flaky (a pesticide intermediate) with Rhodia (France).
3. We set up a cooperation project on cis-3-(2-Chloro-3,3,3-trifluoro-1-propenyl)-2,2-dimethylcyclopropane carboxylic acid with American FMC.
Stage Two: in the last five years of the 1990s, we focus on structure readjustment and execution of technological innovation strategy.
On the development road of technological innovation, we greatly adjusted product structure and improved the overall level of enterprise. We take the research and development of low-toxic, high-efficient and high value-added new products as our main task. Therefore, we invested RMB 8 million to found a provincial technical center and testing center, and introduce experienced researchers and excellent technical talents. In order to encourage technical development, we formulated "Scientific and Technological Rewarding Strategy", and set up a Scientific and Technological Rewarding Fund of RMN 5 million, to award those employees with outstanding achievements on technological development and scientific management, whom are selected once two years. Moreover, we have established long-term cooperative relations with famous scientific research institutes such as Shenyang Chemical Research Institute and Jiangsu Pesticide Research Institute, so as to step onto a development road integrated with science, study and research. Just during the "Ninth Five-year Plan of China", we have independently or cooperatively developed more than 30 new products, including d(+)-hydroxyphenyl propionate and Bichongqing which are taken as national key technological projects of the "Ninth Five-year Plan of China"; methyl chlopyrifos and ester aldehyde (annual output: 1700 tons) as national double-key technological projects; high-efficient nicotine insecticide, its intermediate 2-Chloro-5-chloro-methylpyridine and high-selectivity weedicide s national high-tech industrialization promotion projects and national debt projects; high-efficient Beta-cypermethrin and chloractic acid as national scientific achievements polularization projects. Our APIs have been increased from 4 types to 17 types, and preparations have been increased to 43 types. Now our products are in different forms: emulsion, solution, suspending emulsion, suspending agent, seed treatment, wettable powder, etc. And we have realized three radical change of our pesticide product structure: from insecticide to both insecticide and weedicide; from high-toxicity low value-added to high-efficiency, low-toxicity and high value-added; from small variety and large-scale production to large variety, complete specifications and small-batch production. We have formed our main line superiority, and have developed form a large pesticide factory into a strong pesticide factory.
Through large-scale technical reform and introducing internationally advanced production technology during the 1990s, our production technology and equipment has met the leading level in the trade in our country, and our product structure is optimized. Along with futherinternal reform in the enterprise, the concepts of our employees has been continuously renewed: enterprise is an economic organization; the aim of production is economic benefit. These concepts are carried out in the economic activities in our group, so our risk resistance and market competitive force are greatly improved.
Stage Three: enterprise reformation and execution of location structure readjustment of company.
For the further reform of our company, and in accord with the requirements "Some Opinions on Enterprise Transformation in Suzhou City", we accelerated our enterprise transformation, and our group was listed as the first batch of enterprises to transform.
On May 30th, 2003, as one of enterprises earliest finishing transformation,, we held a grand ceremony in Suzhou Conference Center, and established Jiangsu Suhua Group Co., Ltd. Suhua Group was transformed to a multi-invested company limited from a large-scale government facility. It is another turning point of our group.
At the same time, according to the requirements of Suzhou city on executing urbanization strategy and accelerating industry layout, we fastened our adjustment of location structure of group. According to the moving requirements, we base on the state’s policies, insist in the principle of "stress both economic development and environmental protection", and scientifically analyzed and decided the moving place in consideration of the features and requirements of our group development. Since the starting of the construction in June of 2003, it is stressed and concerned by many parties. For large investment, fast construction, we established a modern chemical city on the side of Ynagtze River. Till now, First, the second phase had ended completely, the third phase estimated that 08
the end of the year completes completely.
During these 15 years, for the associated effort of all employees of Suhua, our enterprise have been developed rapidly and soundly, our enterprise scale is becoming larger and larger, and our economic benefit has been stepped onto a new stage. With outstanding achievements, our enterprise has developed an integrated large-scale enterprise group encompassing research, production, trade and physical distribution. |
